Candles for Promotion: More About these Wellness Gifts
Which Candle Holder Should You Choose for Your Target Audience and Campaign?
When choosing a promotional candle, the material of the candle holder is just as important as the fragrance or design. Not only does it reflect your brand values, but it also influences the overall impact of the gift. Here are the three options our clients favour most — and when we recommend choosing each one.
Glass
This is the classic choice for creating a cosy atmosphere: it reveals the flame, enhances the feeling of warmth, and gives the gift a more premium feel.
We especially recommend it for hotels, restaurants, and events where the candle is lit in front of the guest.
Its only drawback is transport. If your order needs to be shipped to multiple branches or handed out at an event, it is advisable to reinforce the individual packaging.
Aluminium
This is our recommendation for large-volume orders or campaigns where the products must travel long distances before delivery. We have seen it first-hand in large-scale campaigns: aluminium absorbs knocks far better than glass, reducing breakages during transport to almost zero.
Its excellent thermal conductivity also allows the wax to melt evenly, and because it is easily recyclable, it fits perfectly with sustainability-focused campaigns.
On the other hand, it lacks the “visible flame” effect of glass, so it may not be the best option if the key moment of the gift is lighting the candle in front of the recipient.
Wood
The option that best conveys authenticity and environmental commitment. It is the preferred material for companies looking to strengthen their sustainable image, and it is also the most suitable for laser engraving — a more durable and elegant branding technique than pad printing.
It is our main recommendation for premium campaigns, welcome packs, or Christmas gifts where perceived value matters more than unit cost.
Fragrances: What We’ve Seen Work Best in Different Settings
At Gift Campaign, we have spent more than 15 years helping companies choose the most suitable corporate gifts, and we can confidently say that branded candles have become one of the most requested items in sectors such as wellness, hospitality, and weddings, among others. However, we have found that the choice of fragrance can make the difference between a memorable gift and one that ends up forgotten in a drawer. Read carefully!
| Fragrance | Feeling It Conveys | Best Used In |
|---|---|---|
| Lavender, vanilla | Relaxation, restfulness | Spas, boutique hotels, clinics |
| Mandarin, jasmine | Warmth and comfort | Estate agencies, weddings, private events |
| Mint, rosemary, basil | Focus, mental clarity | Coworking spaces, academies, consultancy firms |
| Citrus | Freshness, energy | Gyms, sporting events, offices |
| Unscented | Visual calm | Campaigns aimed at broad or international audiences |
If we had to recommend one fragrance for situations where the recipient is not well known, we would choose vanilla. In our experience, it tends to generate the least rejection compared with stronger and more distinctive scents.
Types of Wax for Your Corporate Candles: Which One to Choose According to the Experience You Want to Create
There are three main types of wax depending on their origin, and each offers a different experience for the recipient:
- Mineral-Based Wax (Paraffin) This is the most common option and the one that best retains added colours and fragrances. Ideal for campaigns where consistency of finish and excellent value for money are important.
- Animal-Based Wax (Beeswax) Known for its slow burn and natural honey aroma. It adds an artisanal and elegant touch, making it particularly suitable for premium or limited-edition gifts.
- Plant-Based Wax (Soy, Palm Kernel, Coconut) The most sustainable option, as it is biodegradable and burns cleanly. It is the logical choice if your campaign forms part of an ESG programme or if you want to reinforce your eco-friendly values.
Practical note on climate: Softer vegetable waxes (such as soy or coconut) may slightly mark the candle holder if exposed to extreme heat during transport. For summer deliveries to warmer regions, we recommend premium paraffin or blended mineral wax instead.
Common Mistakes When Personalising Promotional Candles (and How to Avoid Them)
After handling more than 800 corporate candle orders, we have identified several recurring mistakes that we do not want you to make.
1. Choosing Multi-Colour Pad Printing on Curved Surfaces
Pad printing is ideal for logos with one or two solid colours, but registration becomes less accurate when several colours are applied to narrow cylindrical surfaces. If your logo contains more than two colours, we recommend switching to circular screen printing or simplifying the branding to a monochrome version.
2. Using Logos with Gradients or Very Fine Details
Wax and printed glass do not reproduce gradients or details smaller than 1 mm particularly well. If your logo includes these elements, the best approach is to create a version specifically adapted for promotional products. Our team can help you adjust the artwork before production.
3. Choosing Strong Fragrances for Office Gifts
A highly scented candle in a closed environment can quickly become overpowering and may put people off. For welcome gifts or candles intended for office use, it is better to opt for softer fragrances or unscented candles with a distinctive label.
4. Not Accounting for Shipping Weight
A 200 g glass candle multiplied by 500 units can significantly increase courier costs. If your order is high volume, it is important to consider logistics and packaging from the initial quotation stage — and perhaps opt for aluminium models instead.
5. Leaving the Branding Decision Until the Last Minute
The branding technique determines the type of artwork file we require (vector format, number of colours, printable area) as well as the production timeline. Approving the final artwork in advance helps avoid delays to the delivery date.
Personalised Candles With or Without a Lid?
Many candle models include a lid, usually made from bamboo, cork, or aluminium. While it does not affect the candle’s performance, it does serve two practical purposes: it keeps dust out when the candle is not in use, and it reduces the risk of marks or stains during transport.
Our recommendation: if your order is being delivered by standard courier service, choose models with a lid. It is the simplest way to ensure the candle arrives in perfect condition for the recipient.
Frequently Asked Questions About Printed Candles
What Are the Advantages of Choosing Personalised Candles as a Gift?
They stand out as a timeless and original gift that works both as a decorative item and as a way to create atmosphere. In addition, as they include candle holders, once the candle has burned down, a new candle can be placed inside or the holder can be reused as a container for other purposes, ensuring longer visibility for your logo. How Long Does an Order of Branded Candles Take?
The average delivery time for free standard shipping within United Kingdom and Northern ireland is 7–9 working days from approval of the virtual artwork proof. However, this may vary depending on the model or branding method, so we recommend checking the product page for specific details. For campaigns with tighter deadlines, you will also find models available with express delivery.
Which Branding Technique Do You Recommend for My Logo?
It depends. If your logo uses one or two solid colours, pad printing is the best option. However, if you are looking for a full-colour visual impact, we recommend circular screen printing or a personalised label. Likewise, if the candle holder is made from wood or bamboo, laser engraving is the most durable and elegant choice.
Can I Order Candles with Different Fragrances in the Same Order?
Yes! The only requirement is that the minimum order quantity is met and that all the candles feature the same printed logo. To arrange this, simply contact our Customer Service team and they will help you manage your order.
In What Situations Do Candles Work Best as Corporate Gifts?
We have found that they perform particularly well in wellness events, welcome packs, and seasonal campaigns such as Christmas and Valentine’s Day. They are also an excellent gift for weddings and engagements, or for spa and hotel promotions.
Do You Create Bundles Combined with Other Wellness Products?
Yes. Candles work very well when combined with bath sets and fitness kits. They can also be delivered together with a promotional bag, a customised water bottle, or a thermal flask for tea or herbal infusions.
