The fabric weight—measured in grams per square metre (g/m²)—is probably the factor that has the greatest impact on the final product. Having processed more than 18,500 orders for personalised cotton bags at Gift Campaign, we've identified three clear usage profiles.

For customers distributing large quantities at trade shows, conferences or festivals, we recommend bags of up to 140 g/m². These are lightweight, economical models that are ideal when maximum reach is more important than long-term durability.

For employee gifts or customer loyalty campaigns, the sweet spot is between 140 and 220 g/m². These bags offer an excellent balance between quality and value for money, being durable enough for regular use without significantly increasing your budget.

Finally, for premium client gifts or luxury product packaging, where the bag itself forms part of the brand experience—we recommend heavyweight fabrics ofover 220 g/m² with a more structured, high-end finish.

Based on what we've seen work time and time again, our recommendation is simple: the longer you expect the bag to be reused, the higher the fabric weight should be. A bag that remains in use for months will generate far more brand impressions than one that's only used once.

Not every branding technique is suitable for every logo. These are the four methods we use most frequently and when we recommend each one.

Screen printing
The most cost-effective and efficient option for simple designs or large logos. Perfect when you need a generous print area while keeping costs low.

Screen transfer
The ideal choice for logos with multiple colours or fine details. It delivers excellent print quality with a smooth finish.

Digital transfer
The best option for photographic images, gradients or high-resolution artwork, producing vibrant colours and sharp detail.

Embroidery
The most elegant and premium finish. It works particularly well on heavyweight fabrics but isn't recommended for logos with very fine or intricate details.

One piece of advice we share with every customer: choose the branding method to suit your logo—not the other way around. A gradient logo reproduced with screen printing or an intricate design embroidered in fine detail is unlikely to achieve the desired result. That's why we always provide a free virtual proof before production, allowing you to approve the design before manufacturing begins.
